My Accounting Journey
In 2010, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in mathematics and education from a small liberal arts college in west Tennessee. I went on to teach high school math for a year before deciding to attend graduate school and pursue my Master in Accountancy degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, which I obtained in 2013. While in Chattanooga, I worked for a mid-size public accounting firm in tax and audit. In October 2013, I received and accepted an offer to work for the City of San Diego City Treasurer’s Office. I began work as an accountant trainee and worked my way up to a senior accountant, supervising accountant, and ultimately a principal accountant in the over decade of time spent at the City. Additionally, I became a California licensed Certified Public Accountant in July 2014. Although most of my professional accounting experience is in municipal treasury accounting at the City of San Diego, I possess a level of accounting knowledge that has equipped me with the skills necessary to perform accounting and bookkeeping work. In areas where I may not immediately have an answer, I am a lifelong learner and pride myself on learning quickly.

Trained in QuickBooks Online to setup new accounts, cleanup, catch-up or maintain existing accounts on a monthly1 or quarterly basis. Ongoing maintenance includes bank reconciliations, regular consultations, and unaudited financial statements.
